Problem 1

Show that for all integers a≥1a \ge 1 , ⌊a+a+1+a+2⌋=⌊9a+8⌋\lfloor \sqrt{a}+\sqrt{a+1}+\sqrt{a+2}\rfloor = \lfloor \sqrt{9a+8}\rfloor

Problem 2

Given a set SS , of integers, an optimal partition of S into sets T, U is a partition which minimizes the value ∣t−u∣|t - u| , where tt and uu are the sum of the elements of TT and U respectively. Let PP be a set of distinct positive integers such that the sum of the elements of PP is 2k2k for a positive integer kk , and no subset of PP sums to kk . Either show that there exists such a PP with at least 20202020 different optimal partitions, or show that such a PP does not exist.

Problem 3

Let NN be a positive integer and A=a1,a2,...,aNA = a_1, a_2, ... , a_N be a sequence of real numbers. Define the sequence f(A)f(A) to be f(A)=(a1+a22,a2+a32,...,aN−1+aN2,aN+a12)f(A) = \left( \frac{a_1 + a_2}{2},\frac{a_2 + a_3}{2}, ...,\frac{a_{N-1} + a_N}{2},\frac{a_N + a_1}{2}\right) and for kk a positive integer define fk(A)f^k (A) to be ff applied to AA consecutively kk times (i.e. f(f(...f(A)))f(f(... f(A))) ) Find all sequences A=(a1,a2,...,aN)A = (a_1, a_2,..., a_N) of integers such that fk(A)f^k (A) contains only integers for all kk .

Problem 4

Determine all graphs GG with the following two properties: ∙\bullet G contains at least one Hamilton path. ∙\bullet For any pair of vertices, u,v∈Gu, v \in G , if there is a Hamilton path from uu to vv then the edge uvuv is in the graph GG
