BG-MO 1984 Problem 6

Let there be given a pyramid SABCDSABCD whose base ABCDABCD is a parallelogram. Let NN be the midpoint of BCBC . A plane λ\lambda intersects the lines SC,SA,ABSC,SA,AB at points P,Q,RP,Q,R respectively such that CP‾/CS‾=SQ‾/SA‾=AR‾/AB‾\overline{CP}/\overline{CS}=\overline{SQ}/\overline{SA}=\overline{AR}/\overline{AB} . A point MM on the line SDSD is such that the line MNMN is parallel to λ\lambda . Show that the locus of points MM , when λ\lambda takes all possible positions, is a segment of the length 52SD\frac{\sqrt5}2SD .
