Problem 1

For a natural number nn , denote by s(n)s(n) the sum of all positive divisors of n. Prove that for every n>1n > 1 the product s(n−1)s(n)s(n+1)s(n - 1)s(n)s(n + 1) is even.

Problem 2

Each point on the boundary of a square has to be colored in one color. Consider all right triangles with the vertices on the boundary of the square. Determine the least number of colors for which there is a coloring such that no such triangle has all its vertices of the same color.

Problem 3

For all positive numbers a,b,ca, b, c prove the inequality 2bc+ca+ab≤3(b+c)(c+a)(a+b)32\sqrt{bc + ca + ab} \le \sqrt{3} \sqrt[3]{(b + c)(c + a)(a + b)} .

Let kk be a positive integer and u,vu, v be real numbers. Consider P(x)=(x−uk)(x−uv)(x−vk)=x3+ax2+bx+cP(x) = (x - u^k) (x - uv) (x -v^k) = x^3 + ax^2 + bx + c . (a) For k=2k = 2 prove that if a,b,ca, b, c are rational then so is uvuv . (b) Is that also true for k=3k = 3 ?

Problem 5

Given a circle kk with center MM and radius rr , let ABAB be a fixed diameter of kk and let KK be a fixed point on the segment AMAM . Denote by tt the tangent of kk at AA . For any chord CDCD through KK other than ABAB , denote by PP and Q the intersection points of BCBC and BDBD with tt , respectively. Prove that AP⋅AQAP\cdot AQ does not depend on CDCD .

Problem 6

A function f:Z→Zf: Z \to Z has the following properties: f(92+x)=f(92−x)f (92 + x) = f (92 - x) f(19⋅92+x)=f(19⋅92−x)f (19 \cdot 92 + x) = f (19 \cdot 92 - x) ( 19⋅92=174819 \cdot 92 = 1748 ) f(1992+x)=f(1992−x)f (1992 + x) = f (1992 - x) for all integers xx . Can all positive divisors of 9292 occur as values of f?

Problem 7

Consider triangles ABCABC in space. (a) What condition must the angles ∠A,∠B,∠C\angle A, \angle B , \angle C of △ABC\triangle ABC fulfill in order that there is a point PP in space such that ∠APB,∠BPC,∠CPA\angle APB, \angle BPC, \angle CPA are right angles? (b) Let dd be the longest of the edges PA,PB,PCPA,PB,PC and let hh be the longest altitude of △ABC\triangle ABC . Show that 136h≤d≤h\frac{1}{3}\sqrt6 h \le d \le h .

Problem 9

Given an integer n>1n > 1 , consider words composed of nn letters AA and nn letters BB . A word X1...X2nX_1...X_{2n} is said to belong to set R(n)R(n) (respectively, S(n)S(n) ) if no initial segment (respectively, exactly one initial segment) X1...XkX_1...X_k with 1≤k<2n1 \le k < 2n consists of equally many letters AA and BB .
