Problem 1

Let ACAC be a diameter of a circle and ABAB be tangent to the circle. The segment BCBC intersects the circle again at DD . Show that if AC=1AC = 1 , AB=aAB = a , and CD=bCD = b , then 1a2+12<ba<1a2\frac{1}{a^2+ \frac12 }< \frac{b}{a}< \frac{1}{a^2}

Problem 2

Let DD be the point on side ACAC of a triangle ABCABC such that BDBD bisects ∠B\angle B , and EE be the point on side ABAB such that 3∠ACE=2∠BCE3\angle ACE = 2\angle BCE . Suppose that BDBD and CECE intersect at a point PP with ED=DC=CPED = DC = CP . Determine the angles of the triangle.

Problem 3

Let AA and BB be integers with an odd sum. Show that every integer can be written in the form x2−y2+Ax+Byx^2 -y^2 +Ax+By , where x,yx,y are integers.

Problem 4

Players AA and BB play the following game. Each of them throws a dice, and if the outcomes are xx and yy respectively, a list of all two digit numbers 10a+b10a + b with a,b∈{1,..,6}a,b\in \{1,..,6\} and 10a+b≤10x+y10a + b \le 10x + y is created. Then the players alternately reduce the list by replacing a pair of numbers in the list by their absolute difference, until only one number remains. If the remaining number is of the same parity as the outcome of AA 's throw, then AA is proclaimed the winner. What is the probability that AA wins the game?

Problem 5

Let s(m)s(m) denote the sum of (decimal) digits of a positive integer mm . Prove that for every integer n>1n > 1 not equal to 1010 there is a unique integer f(n)≥2f(n) \ge 2 such that s(k)+s(f(n)−k)=ns(k)+s(f(n)-k) = n for all integers kk with 0<k<f(n)0 < k < f(n) .

Problem 6

Assume that a set MM of real numbers is the union of finitely many disjoint intervals with the total length greater than 11 . Prove that MM contains a pair of distinct numbers whose difference is an integer.
