Other problems

Problem 1

Determine the values of n∈Nn \in N such that a square of side nn can be split into a square of side 11 and five rectangles whose side measures are 1010 distinct natural numbers and all greater than 11 .

Problem 2

Let ABCABC be a triangle with incenter II . The circle of center II which passes through BB intersects ACAC at points EE and FF , with EE and FF between AA and CC and different from each other. The circle circumscribed to triangle IEFIEF intersects segments EBEB and FBFB at QQ and RR , respectively. Line QRQR intersects the sides ABA B and BCB C at PP and SS , respectively. If a,ba , b and cc are the measures of the sides BC,CAB C, CA and ABA B , respectively, calculate the measurements of BPB P and BSB S .

Problem 3

Let p>3p > 3 be a prime number and xx an integer, denote by r(x)∈{0,1,...,p−1}r ( x )\in \{ 0 , 1 , ... , p - 1 \} to the rest of xx modulo pp . Let x1,x2,...,xkx_1, x_2, ... , x_k ( 2<k<p2 < k < p ) different integers modulo pp and not divisible by pp . We say that a number a∈{1,2,...,p−1}a \in \{ 1 , 2 ,..., p -1 \} is good if r(ax1)<r(ax2)<...<r(axk)r ( a x_1) < r ( a x_2) <...< r ( a x_k) . Show that there are at most 2pk+1−1\frac{2 p}{k + 1}-{ 1} good numbers.

Problem 4

Find all functions f:Z→Zf:Z\to Z with the following property: if x+y+z=0x+y+z=0 , then f(x)+f(y)+f(z)=xyz.f(x)+f(y)+f(z)=xyz.

Problem 5

Divide each side of a triangle into 5050 equal parts, and each point of the division is joined to the opposite vertex by a segment. Calculate the number of intersection points determined by these segments.

Clarification : the vertices of the original triangle are not considered points of intersection or division.

Problem 6

Let n>2n > 2 be a natural number. A subset AA of RR is said nn -smallif there exist nn real numbers t1,t2,...,tnt_1 , t_2 , ..., t_n such that the sets t1+A,t2+A,...,tn+At_1 + A , t_2 + A ,... , t_n + A are different . Show that RR can not be represented as a union of n−1n - 1 nn -small sets .

Notation : if r∈Rr \in R and B⊂RB \subset R , then r+B={r+b∣b∈B}r + B = \{ r + b | b \in B\} .
