Problem 1

Consider an arc ABAB of a circle CC and a point PP variable in that arc ABAB . Let DD be the midpoint of the arc APAP that doeas not contain BB and let EE be the midpoint of the arc BPBP that does not contain AA . Let C1C_1 be the circle with center DD passing through AA and C2C_2 be the circle with center EE passing through B.B. Prove that the line that contains the intersection points of C1C_1 and C2C_2 passes through a fixed point.

Problem 2

Given an integer n>2n > 2 , consider all sequences x1,x2,...,xnx_1,x_2,...,x_n of nonnegative real numbers such that x1+2x2+...+nxn=1.x_1+ 2x_2 + ... + nx_n = 1. Find the maximum value and the minimum value of x12+x22+...+xn2x_1^2+x_2^2+...+x_n^2 and determine all the sequences x1,x2,...,xnx_1,x_2,...,x_n for which these values are obtained.

Problem 3

Let XX be a finite set of positive integers. Prove that for every subset AA of XX , there is a subset BB of XX , with the following property: For each element ee of XX , ee divides an odd number of elements of BB , if and only if ee is an element of AA .

Problem 4

Let MM be a subset of {1,2,...,1998}\{1,2,..., 1998\} with 10001000 elements. Prove that it is always possible to find two elements aa and bb in MM , not necessarily distinct, such that a+ba + b is a power of 22 .

Problem 5

We say that MM is the midpoint of the open polygonal XYZXYZ , formed by the segments XY,YZXY, YZ , if MM belongs to the polygonal and divides its length by half. Let ABCABC be a acute triangle with orthocenter HH . Let A1,B1,C1,A2,B2,C2A_1, B_1,C_1,A_2, B_2,C_2 be the midpoints of the open polygonal CAB,ABC,BCA,BHC,CHA,AHBCAB, ABC, BCA, BHC, CHA, AHB , respectively. Show that the lines A1A2,B1B2A_1 A_2, B_1B_2 and C1C2C_1C_2 are concurrent.

Problem 6

Let kk be a fixed positive integer. For each n=1,2,...,n = 1, 2,..., we will call configuration of order nn any set of knkn points of the plane, which does not contain 33 collinear, colored with kk given colors, so that there are nn points of each color. Determine all positive integers nn with the following property: in each configuration of order nn , it is possible to select three points of each color, such that the kk triangles with vertices of the same color that are determined are disjoint in pairs.
