Other problems

Problem 1

Determine the number of pairs of positive integers (a,b)(a, b) , with a≤ba \le b , for which lcm (a,b)=2004(a, b) = 2004 . lcm ( a,ba, b ) means the least common multiple of aa and bb . Example: lcm (18,24)=72(18, 24) = 72 .

Problem 2

Two circles AA and BB , both with radius 11 , touch each other externally. Four circles P,Q,RP, Q, R and SS , all four with the same radius rr , lie such that PP externally touches on A,B,QA, B, Q and SS , QQ externally touches on P,BP, B and RR , RR externally touches on A,B,QA, B, Q and SS , SS externally touches on P,AP, A and RR . Calculate the length of r.r.

AA BB PP QQ RR SS

Problem 3

Start with a stack of 100100 cards. Now repeat the following: choose a stack of at least 22 cards and split them into two smaller piles (at least 11 card of each). Continue this until there are finally 100100 stacks of 11 card each. Every time you split a pile into two stacks you get a number of points that is equal to the product of the number of cards in the two new stacks. What is the maximum number of points that you can earn in total?

Problem 4

Two circles C1C_1 and C2C_2 touch each other externally in a point PP . At point C1C_1 there is a point QQ such that the tangent line in QQ at C1C_1 intersects the circle C2C_2 at points AA and BB . The line QPQP still intersects C2C_2 at point CC . Prove that triangle ABCABC is isosceles.

Problem 5

A right triangle with perpendicular sides aa and bb and hypotenuse cc has the following properties: a=pma = p^m and b=qnb = q^n with pp and qq prime numbers and mm and nn positive integers, c=2k+1c = 2k +1 with kk a positive integer. Determine all possible values of cc and the associated values of aa and bb .
