Problem 1

Let 1≤k≤n1\le k\le n be integers. At most how many kk -element subsets can we select from {1,2,…,n}\{1,2,\dots,n\} such that for any two selected subsets, one of the subsets consists of the kk smallest elements of their union?

Problem 2

Prove that for any finite set AA of positive integers, there exists a subset BB of AA satisfying the following conditions:

  • if b1,b2∈Bb_1,b_2\in B are distinct, then neither b1b_1 and b2b_2 nor b1+1b_1+1 and b2+1b_2+1 are multiples of each other, and
  • for any a∈Aa\in A , we can find a b∈Bb\in B such that aa divides bb or b+1b+1 divides a+1a+1 .

Problem 3

If p,q∈R[x]p,q\in\mathbb{R}[x] satisfy p(p(x))=q(x)2p(p(x))=q(x)^2 , does it follow that p(x)=r(x)2p(x)=r(x)^2 for some r∈R[x]r\in\mathbb{R}[x] ?
