Other problems

Problem 1

Draw a circle kk with diameter EF‾\overline{EF} , and let its tangent in EE be ee . Consider all possible pairs A,B∈eA,B\in e for which E∈AB‾E\in \overline{AB} and AE⋅EBAE\cdot EB is a fixed constant. Define (A1,B1)=(AF∩k,BF∩k)(A_1,B_1)=(AF\cap k,BF\cap k) . Prove that the segments A1B1‾\overline{A_1B_1} all concur in one point.

Problem 2

Prove that if a graph G\mathcal{G} on n≥3n\ge 3 vertices has a unique 33 -coloring, then G\mathcal{G} has at least 2n−32n-3 edges.

(A graph is 33 -colorable when there exists a coloring of its vertices with 33 colors such that no two vertices of the same color are connected by an edge. The graph can be 33 -colored uniquely if there do not exist vertices uu and vv of the graph that are painted different colors in one 33 -coloring, yet are colored the same in another.)

Problem 3

Prove that the following inequality holds with the exception of finitely many positive integers nn :

∑i=1n∑j=1ngcd(i,j)>4n2.\sum_{i=1}^n\sum_{j=1}^n gcd(i,j)>4n^2.
