To each vertex of a regular nn-gon a real number is assigned in such a way that the sum of all nn numbers is positive. If three consecutive vertices are assigned the numbers xx, yy, zz respectively and yy<0 then the following operation is allowed: the numbers xx, yy, zzare replaced by xx+yy, -yy, zz+yy respectively. Such an operation is performed repeatedly as long as at least one of the nn numbers is negative. Determine whether this procedure necessarily terminates after a finite number of steps.
