Let 1<aa<2 be a real number. (aa) Show that there exists a unique sequence x1x_1,x2x_2,... of positive integers satisfying xi+1≥xi2x_{i+1} \ge x_i ^2 for all indices ii and (1+1x1)(1+1x2)⋯=a.\left(1+\frac1{x_1}\right)\left(1+\frac1{x_2}\right)\dots = a. (bb) Prove that inequality xi+1x_{i+1}>xi2x_i ^2 holds for infinitely many indices if and only if aa is irrational.
