Problem 2

  • Paper

Let ABCABC be a triangle, and let the tangent to the circumcircle of the triangle ABCABC at AA meet the line BCBC at DD . The perpendicular to BCBC at BB meets the perpendicular bisector of ABAB at EE . The perpendicular to BCBC at CC meets the perpendicular bisector of ACAC at FF . Prove that the points DD , EE and FF are collinear.

Find all functions f:Q→Rf: \mathbb{Q}\to\mathbb{R} which fulfill the following conditions:

a) f(1)+1>0f(1)+1>0 ;

b) f(x+y)−xf(y)−yf(x)=f(x)f(y)−x−y+xyf(x+y) -xf(y) -yf(x) = f(x)f(y) -x-y +xy , for all x,y∈Qx,y\in\mathbb{Q} ;

c) f(x)=2f(x+1)+x+2f(x) = 2f(x+1) +x+2 , for every x∈Qx\in\mathbb{Q} .

A rectangle ABCDABCD has side lengths AB=mAB = m , AD=nAD = n , with mm and nn relatively prime and both odd. It is divided into unit squares and the diagonal AC intersects the sides of the unit squares at the points A1=A,A2,A3,…,Ak=CA_1 = A, A_2, A_3, \ldots , A_k = C . Show that A1A2−A2A3+A3A4−⋯+Ak−1Ak=m2+n2mn.A_1A_2 - A_2A_3 + A_3A_4 - \cdots + A_{k-1}A_k = {\sqrt{m^2+n^2}\over mn}.
