VN-TST 1997 Problem 1

    Let ABCDABCD be a given tetrahedron, with BC=aBC = a , CA=bCA = b , AB=cAB = c , DA=a1DA = a_1 , DB=b1DB = b_1 , DC=c1DC = c_1 . Prove that there is a unique point PP satisfying PA2+a12+b2+c2=PB2+b12+c2+a2=PC2+c12+a2+b2=PD2+a12+b12+c12PA^2 + a_1^2 + b^2 + c^2 = PB^2 + b_1^2 + c^2 + a^2 = PC^2 + c_1^2 + a^2 + b^2 = PD^2 + a_1^2 + b_1^2 + c_1^2 and for this point PP we have PA2+PB2+PC2+PD2≥4R2PA^2 + PB^2 + PC^2 + PD^2 \ge 4R^2 , where RR is the circumradius of the tetrahedron ABCDABCD . Find the necessary and sufficient condition so that this inequality is an equality.
