Problem 1

Let ABCA B C be an acute triangle, and let XX be a variable interior point on the minor arc⁡BC\operatorname{arc} B C of its circumcircle. Let PP and QQ be the feet of the perpendiculars from XX to lines CAC A and CBC B, respectively. Let RR be the intersection of line PQP Q and the perpendicular from BB to ACA C. Let ℓ\ell be the line through PP parallel to XRX R. Prove that as XX varies along minor arc BCB C, the line ℓ\ell always passes through a fixed point.

Problem 2

Let a1,a2,a3,…a_{1}, a_{2}, a_{3}, \ldots be a sequence of integers, with the property that every consecutive group of aia_{i} 's averages to a perfect square. More precisely, for all positive integers nn and kk, the quantity an+an+1+⋯+an+k−1k\frac{a_{n}+a_{n+1}+\cdots+a_{n+k-1}}{k} is always the square of an integer. Prove that the sequence must be constant (all aia_{i} are equal to the same perfect square).

Problem 3

Let nn be an even positive integer, and let GG be an nn-vertex (simple) graph with exactly n24\frac{n^{2}}{4} edges. An unordered pair of distinct vertices {x,y}\{x, y\} is said to be amicable if they have a common neighbor (there is a vertex zz such that xzx z and yzy z are both edges). Prove that GG has at least 2(n/22)2\binom{n / 2}{2} pairs of vertices which are amicable.

Problem 4

Let nn be a positive even integer, and let c1,c2,…,cn−1c_{1}, c_{2}, \ldots, c_{n-1} be real numbers satisfying ∑i=1n−1∣ci−1∣<1\sum_{i=1}^{n-1}\left|c_{i}-1\right|<1 Prove that 2xn−cn−1xn−1+cn−2xn−2−⋯−c1x1+22 x^{n}-c_{n-1} x^{n-1}+c_{n-2} x^{n-2}-\cdots-c_{1} x^{1}+2 has no real roots.

Problem 5

Let ABCDA B C D be a cyclic quadrilateral, and let E,F,GE, F, G, and HH be the midpoints of AB,BC,CDA B, B C, C D, and DAD A respectively. Let W,X,YW, X, Y and ZZ be the orthocenters of triangles AHE,BEF,CFGA H E, B E F, C F G and DGHD G H, respectively. Prove that the quadrilaterals ABCDA B C D and WXYZW X Y Z have the same area.

Problem 6

For a prime pp, a subset SS of residues modulo pp is called a sum-free multiplicative subgroup of Fp\mathbb{F}_{p} if - there is a nonzero residue α\alpha modulo pp such that S={1,α1,α2,…}S=\left\{1, \alpha^{1}, \alpha^{2}, \ldots\right\} (all considered  mod p\bmod p ), and - there are no a,b,c∈Sa, b, c \in S (not necessarily distinct) such that a+b≡c( mod p)a+b \equiv c(\bmod p). Prove that for every integer NN, there is a prime pp and a sum-free multiplicative subgroup SS of Fp\mathbb{F}_{p} such that ∣S∣≥N|S| \geq N.
