Problem 1

Let ABCDA B C D be a quadrilateral inscribed in a circle with center OO. Points XX and YY lie on sides ABA B and CDC D, respectively. Suppose the circumcircles of ADXA D X and BCYB C Y meet line XYX Y again at PP and QQ, respectively. Show that OP=OQO P=O Q.

Problem 2

Let a1<a2<a3<a4<⋯a_{1}<a_{2}<a_{3}<a_{4}<\cdots be an infinite sequence of real numbers in the interval (0,1)(0,1). Show that there exists a number that occurs exactly once in the sequence a11,a22,a33,a44,…\frac{a_{1}}{1}, \frac{a_{2}}{2}, \frac{a_{3}}{3}, \frac{a_{4}}{4}, \ldots

Problem 3

Find all positive integers k>1k>1 for which there exists a positive integer nn such that (nk)\binom{n}{k} is divisible by nn, and (nm)\binom{n}{m} is not divisible by nn for 2≤m<k2 \leq m<k.

Problem 4

Let aa and bb be positive integers. Suppose that there are infinitely many pairs of positive integers (m,n)(m, n) for which m2+an+bm^{2}+a n+b and n2+am+bn^{2}+a m+b are both perfect squares. Prove that aa divides 2b2 b.

Problem 5

Let TT be a tree on nn vertices with exactly kk leaves. Suppose that there exists a subset of at least n+k−12\frac{n+k-1}{2} vertices of TT, no two of which are adjacent. Show that the longest path in TT contains an even number of edges.

Problem 6

Triangles ABCA B C and DEFD E F share circumcircle Ω\Omega and incircle ω\omega so that points A,FA, F, B,D,CB, D, C, and EE occur in this order along Ω\Omega. Let ΔA\Delta_{A} be the triangle formed by lines AB,ACA B, A C, and EFE F, and define triangles ΔB,ΔC,…,ΔF\Delta_{B}, \Delta_{C}, \ldots, \Delta_{F} similarly. Furthermore, let ΩA\Omega_{A} and ωA\omega_{A} be the circumcircle and incircle of triangle ΔA\Delta_{A}, respectively, and define circles ΩB,ωB,…,ΩF,ωF\Omega_{B}, \omega_{B}, \ldots, \Omega_{F}, \omega_{F} similarly. (a) Prove that the two common external tangents to circles ΩA\Omega_{A} and ΩD\Omega_{D} and the two common external tangents to circles ωA\omega_{A} and ωD\omega_{D} are either concurrent or pairwise parallel. (b) Suppose that these four lines meet at point TAT_{A}, and define points TBT_{B} and TCT_{C} similarly. Prove that points TA,TBT_{A}, T_{B}, and TCT_{C} are collinear.

Problem 7

Let MM be a finite set of lattice points and nn be a positive integer. A mine-avoiding path is a path of lattice points with length nn, beginning at (0,0)(0,0) and ending at a point on the line x+y=nx+y=n, that does not contain any point in MM. Prove that if there exists a mine-avoiding path, then there exist at least 2n−∣M∣2^{n-|M|} mine-avoiding paths.

Problem 8

Let ABCA B C be a scalene triangle. Points A1,B1A_{1}, B_{1} and C1C_{1} are chosen on segments BCB C, CAC A, and ABA B, respectively, such that △A1B1C1\triangle A_{1} B_{1} C_{1} and △ABC\triangle A B C are similar. Let A2A_{2} be the unique point on line B1C1B_{1} C_{1} such that AA2=A1A2A A_{2}=A_{1} A_{2}. Points B2B_{2} and C2C_{2} are defined similarly. Prove that △A2B2C2\triangle A_{2} B_{2} C_{2} and △ABC\triangle A B C are similar.

Problem 9

Let q=prq=p^{r} for a prime number pp and positive integer rr. Let ζ=e2πiq\zeta=e^{\frac{2 \pi i}{q}}. Find the least positive integer nn such that ∑1≤k≤qgcd⁡(k,p)=11(1−ζk)n\sum_{\substack{1 \leq k \leq q \\ \operatorname{gcd}(k, p)=1}} \frac{1}{\left(1-\zeta^{k}\right)^{n}} is not an integer. (The sum is over all 1≤k≤q1 \leq k \leq q with pp not dividing kk.)
