Problem 1

Let ABCA B C be a triangle and D,E,FD, E, F be the midpoints of arcs⁡BC,CA,AB\operatorname{arcs} B C, C A, A B on the circumcircle. Line ℓa\ell_{a} passes through the feet of the perpendiculars from AA to DB‾\overline{D B} and DC‾\overline{D C}. Line mam_{a} passes through the feet of the perpendiculars from DD to AB‾\overline{A B} and AC‾\overline{A C}. Let A1A_{1} denote the intersection of lines ℓa\ell_{a} and mam_{a}. Define points B1B_{1} and C1C_{1} similarly. Prove that triangles DEFD E F and A1B1C1A_{1} B_{1} C_{1} are similar to each other.

Problem 2

A finite sequence of integers a1,a2,…,ana_{1}, a_{2}, \ldots, a_{n} is called regular if there exists a real number xx satisfying ⌊kx⌋=ak for 1≤k≤n\lfloor k x\rfloor=a_{k} \text { for } 1 \leq k \leq n Given a regular sequence a1,a2,…,ana_{1}, a_{2}, \ldots, a_{n}, for 1≤k≤n1 \leq k \leq n we say that the term aka_{k} is forced if the following condition is satisfied: the sequence a1,a2,…,ak−1,ba_{1}, a_{2}, \ldots, a_{k-1}, b is regular if and only if b=akb=a_{k}. Find the maximum possible number of forced terms in a regular sequence with 1000 terms.

Problem 3

Divide the plane into an infinite square grid by drawing all the lines x=mx=m and y=ny=n for m,n∈Zm, n \in \mathbb{Z}. Next, if a square's upper-right corner has both coordinates even, color it black; otherwise, color it white (in this way, exactly 1/41 / 4 of the squares are black and no two black squares are adjacent). Let rr and ss be odd integers, and let (x,y)(x, y) be a point in the interior of any white square such that rx−syr x-s y is irrational. Shoot a laser out of this point with slope r/sr / s; lasers pass through white squares and reflect off black squares. Prove that the path of this laser will from a closed loop.

Problem 4

Circle ω\omega, centered at XX, is internally tangent to circle Ω\Omega, centered at YY, at TT. Let PP and SS be variable points on Ω\Omega and ω\omega, respectively, such that line PSP S is tangent to ω(\omega( at S)S). Determine the locus of OO - the circumcenter of triangle PSTP S T.

Problem 5

Let pp be a prime. Prove that in a complete graph with 1000p1000 p vertices whose edges are labelled with integers, one can find a cycle whose sum of labels is divisible by pp.

Problem 6

Let N\mathbb{N} be the set of positive integers. Find all functions f:N→Nf: \mathbb{N} \rightarrow \mathbb{N} that satisfy the equation fabc−a(abc)+fabc−b(abc)+fabc−c(abc)=a+b+cf^{a b c-a}(a b c)+f^{a b c-b}(a b c)+f^{a b c-c}(a b c)=a+b+c for all a,b,c≥2a, b, c \geq 2. (Here fkf^{k} means ff applied kk times.)

Problem 7

A country has nn cities, labelled 1,2,3,…,n1,2,3, \ldots, n. It wants to build exactly n−1n-1 roads between certain pairs of cities so that every city is reachable from every other city via some sequence of roads. However, it is not permitted to put roads between pairs of cities that have labels differing by exactly 1 , and it is also not permitted to put a road between cities 1 and nn. Let TnT_{n} be the total number of possible ways to build these roads. (a) For all odd nn, prove that TnT_{n} is divisible by nn. (b) For all even nn, prove that TnT_{n} is divisible by n/2n / 2.

Problem 8

Define a function f:N→Nf: \mathbb{N} \rightarrow \mathbb{N} by f(1)=1,f(n+1)=f(n)+2f(n)f(1)=1, f(n+1)=f(n)+2^{f(n)} for every positive integer nn. Prove that f(1),f(2),…,f(32013)f(1), f(2), \ldots, f\left(3^{2013}\right) leave distinct remainders when divided by 320133^{2013}.

Problem 9

Let rr be a rational number in the interval [−1,1][-1,1] and let θ=cos⁡−1r\theta=\cos ^{-1} r. Call a subset SS of the plane good if SS is unchanged upon rotation by θ\theta around any point of SS (in both clockwise and counterclockwise directions). Determine all values of rr satisfying the following property: The midpoint of any two points in a good set also lies in the set.
