Other problems

Problem 1

Let pp be a prime. Show that p3+p53\sqrt[3]{p} +\sqrt[3]{p^5} is irrational.

Problem 2

A cyclic quadrilateral ABCDABCD has circumcenter OO , its diagonals ACAC and BDBD intersect at GG . Let P,Q,R,SP, Q, R, S be the circumcenters of △AGB,△BGC,△CGD,△DGA\vartriangle AGB, \vartriangle BGC, \vartriangle CGD, \vartriangle DGA respectively. Lines PRP R and QSQS intersect at MM . Show that MM is the midpoint of OGOG .

Problem 3

Determine all functions f:R→Rf : R \to R satisfying f(f(x)−y)≤xf(x)+f(y)f(f(x) - y) \le xf(x) + f(y) for all real numbers x,yx, y .

Problem 4

In a math competition, 1414 schools participate, each sending 1414 students. The students are separated into 1414 groups of 1414 so that no two students from the same school are in the same group. The tournament organizers noted that, from the competitors, exactly 1515 have participated in the competition before. The organizers want to select two representatives, with the conditions that they must be former participants, must come from different schools, and must also be in different groups. It turns out that there are nn ways to do this. What is the minimum possible value of nn ?

Problem 5

Does there exist 20172017 consecutive positive integers, none of which could be written as a2+b2a^2 + b^2 for some integers a,ba, b ? Justify your answer.

Problem 6

In an acute triangle △ABC\vartriangle ABC , DD is the foot of altitude from AA to BCBC . Suppose that AD=CDAD = CD , and define NN as the intersection of the median CMCM and the line ADAD . Prove that △ABC\vartriangle ABC is isosceles if and only if CN=2AMCN = 2AM .

Problem 7

Show that no pairs of integers (m,n)(m, n) satisfy 2560m2+5m+6=n52560m^2 + 5m + 6 = n^5 . .

Problem 8

Let a,b,ca, b, c be side lengths of a right triangle. Determine the minimum possible value of a3+b3+c3abc\frac{a^3 + b^3 + c^3}{abc} .

Problem 9

Determine all functions ff on the set of positive rational numbers such that f(xf(x)+f(y))=f(x)2+yf(xf(x) + f(y)) = f(x)^2 + y for all positive rational numbers x,yx, y .

Problem 10

A lattice point is defined as a point on the plane with integer coordinates. Show that for all positive integers nn , there is a circle on the plane with exactly n lattice points in its interior (not including its boundary).
