Other problems

Problem 1

The incircle of △ABC\vartriangle ABC touches the sides BC,CA,ABBC,CA,AB at D,E,FD,E,F respectively. A circle through AA and BB encloses △ABC\vartriangle ABC and intersects the line DEDE at points PP and QQ . Prove that the midpoint of ABAB lies on the circumircle of △PQF\vartriangle PQF .

Problem 2

Let a1,a2,...,an,b1,b2,...,bn,pa_1,a_2,...,a_n,b_1,b_2,...,b_n,p be real numbers with p>−1p >- 1 . Prove that ∑i=1n(ai−bi)(ai(a12+a22+...+an2)p/2−bi(b12+b22+...+bn2)p/2)≥0\sum_{i=1}^{n}(a_i-b_i)\left(a_i (a_1^2+a_2^2+...+a_n^2)^{p/2}-b_i (b_1^2+b_2^2+...+b_n^2)^{p/2}\right)\ge 0

Problem 3

Find the smallest positive integer nn so that 12+22+...+n2n\sqrt{\frac{1^2+2^2+...+n^2}{n}} is an integer.

Problem 4

Let n>3n > 3 be an integer. Prove that there exist positive integers x1,...,xnx_1,..., x_n in geometric progression and positive integers y1,...,yny_1,..., y_n in arithmetic progression such that x1<y1<x2<y2<...<xn<ynx_1<y_1<x_2<y_2<...<x_n<y_n

Problem 5

Let AA and BB be two n×nn \times n square arrays. The cells of AA are labelled by the numbers from 11 to n2n^2 from left to right starting from the top row, whereas the cells of BB are labelled by the numbers from 11 to n2n^2 along rising north-easterly diagonals starting with the upper left-hand corner. Stack the array BB on top of the array AA . If two overlapping cells have the same number, they are coloured red. Determine those nn for which there is at least one red cell other than the cells at top left corner, bottom right corner and the centre (when nn is odd). Below shows the arrays for n=4n=4 . Image
