Problem 1

Let KK be a closed subset of the closed unit ball in R3\mathbb{R}^3 . Suppose there exists a family of chords Ω\Omega of the unit sphere S2S^2 , with the following property: for every X,Y∈S2X,Y\in S^2 , there exist X′,Y′∈S2X',Y'\in S^2 , as close to XX and YY correspondingly, as we want, such that X′Y′∈ΩX'Y'\in \Omega and X′Y′X'Y' is disjoint from KK . Verify that there exists a set H⊂S2H\subset S^2 , such that HH is dense in the unit sphere S2S^2 , and the chords connecting any two points of HH are disjoint from KK .

EDIT: The statement fixed. See post #4

Problem 2

Problem 3

Let B,B⊂A{B, B \subset A} be minimal with the property: for any a∈A∖B{a \in A \setminus B} there exists b∈B{b \in B} , such that either a→b{a \rightarrow b} or b→a{b \rightarrow a} (or possibly both). Supposing that A{A} has at most k{k} elements that are pairwise not in relation →{\rightarrow} , prove that B{B} has at most k{k} elements.

Problem 4

Let ana_n be a series of positive integers with a1=1a_1=1 and for any arbitrary prime number pp , the set {a1,a2,⋯ ,ap}\{a_1,a_2,\cdots,a_p\} is a complete remainder system modulo pp . Prove that lim⁡n→∞ann=1\lim_{n\rightarrow \infty} \cfrac{a_n}{n}=1 .

Problem 6

Let GG be the permutation group of a finite set Ω\Omega .Consider S⊂GS\subset G such that 1∈S1\in S and for any x,y∈Ωx,y\in \Omega there exists a unique element σ∈S\sigma \in S such that σ(x)=y\sigma (x)=y .Prove that,if the elements of S∖{1}S \setminus \{1\} are conjugate in GG ,then GG is 2−2- transitive on Ω\Omega

Problem 7

We call a bar of width w{w} on the surface of the unit sphere S2{\Bbb{S}^2} , a spherical segment, centered at the origin, which has width w{w} and is symmetric with respect to the origin.
