PL-OM 1977 Problem 4

    A function h:R→Rh : \mathbb{R} \rightarrow \mathbb{R} is differentiable and satisfies h(ax)=bh(x)h(ax) = bh(x) for all xx , where aa and bb are given positive numbers and 0≠∣a∣≠10 \not = |a| \not = 1 . Suppose that h′(0)≠0h'(0) \not = 0 and the function h′h' is continuous at x=0x = 0 . Prove that a=ba = b and that there is a real number cc such that h(x)=cxh(x) = cx for all xx .
