Problem 1

A line through a vertex of a non-degenerate triangle cuts it in two similar triangles with 3\sqrt{3} as the ratio between correspondent sides. Find the angles of the given triangle.

Problem 2

Let x1,⋯ ,xnx_1,\cdots, x_n be nonzero vectors of a vector space VV and φ:V→V\varphi:V\to V be a linear transformation such that φx1=x1\varphi x_1 = x_1 , φxk=xk−xk−1\varphi x_k = x_k - x_{k-1} for k=2,3,…,nk = 2, 3,\ldots,n . Prove that the vectors x1,…,xnx_1,\ldots,x_n are linearly independent.

Problem 4

Given two positive integers m,nm,n , we say that a function f:[0,m]→Rf : [0,m] \to \mathbb{R} is (m,n)(m,n) -slippery if it has the following properties:

i) ff is continuous; ii) f(0)=0f(0) = 0 , f(m)=nf(m) = n ; iii) If t1,t2∈[0,m]t_1, t_2\in [0,m] with t1<t2t_1 < t_2 are such that t2−t1∈Zt_2-t_1\in \mathbb{Z} and f(t2)−f(t1)∈Zf(t_2)-f(t_1)\in\mathbb{Z} , then t2−t1∈{0,m}t_2-t_1 \in \{0,m\} .

Find all the possible values for m,nm, n such that there is a function ff that is (m,n)(m,n) -slippery.

Problem 5

Let N\mathbb{N} and N∗\mathbb{N}^* be the sets containing the natural numbers/positive integers respectively.

We define a binary relation on N∗\mathbb{N}^* by a∈~ba\tilde{\in}b iff bb is a multiple of the aa -th prime number pap_a .
