Other problems

Problem 1

Let m,nm, n, and pp be odd positive integers. Prove that the number

∑k=1(n−1)pkm\sum_{k=1}^{(n-1)^{p}} k^{m}

is divisible by nn.

Problem 2

Let a1,a2,…,ana_{1}, a_{2}, \ldots, a_{n} be real numbers. Prove

a13+a23+…+an33≤a12+a22+…+an2\sqrt[3]{a_{1}^{3}+a_{2}^{3}+\ldots+a_{n}^{3}} \leq \sqrt{a_{1}^{2}+a_{2}^{2}+\ldots+a_{n}^{2}}

When does equality hold in (1)?

Problem 3

Let ABCA B C be a triangle and let PP be an interior point of ABCA B C. We assume that a line ll, which passes through PP, but not through AA, intersects ABA B and ACA C (or their extensions over BB or CC ) at QQ and RR, respectively. Find ll such that the perimeter of the triangle AQRA Q R is as small as possible.

Problem 4

It is possible to perform three operations f,gf, g, and hh for positive integers: f(n)=f(n)= 10n,g(n)=10n+410 n, g(n)=10 n+4, and h(2n)=nh(2 n)=n; in other words, one may write 0 or 4 in the end of the number and one may divide an even number by 2. Prove: every positive integer can be constructed starting from 4 and performing a finite number of the operations f,gf, g, and hh in some order.
