Other problems

Problem 1

Prove that for every n∈Nn \in N , n>6n > 6 , every equilateral triangle can be divided into nn pieces, which are also equilateral triangles.

Problem 2

Prove that there exists exactly one function ƒƒ which is defined for all x∈Rx \in R , and for which holds: ∙\bullet x≤y⇒f(x)≤f(y)x \le y \Rightarrow f(x) \le f(y) , for all x,y∈Rx, y \in R , and ∙\bullet f(f(x))=xf(f(x)) = x , for all x∈Rx \in R .

Problem 3

ABCDABCD is a regular tetrahedron. The points P,Q,RP,Q,R and SS lie outside this tetrahedron in such a way that ABCPABCP , ABDQABDQ , ACDRACDR and BCDSBCDS are regular tetrahedra. Prove that the volume of the tetrahedron PQRSPQRS is less than the sum of the volumes of ABCPABCP , ABDQABDQ , ACDRACDR , BCDSBCDS and ABCDABCD .

Problem 4

On a circle with radius 11 the points A1,A2,...,AnA_1, A_2,..., A_n lie such that every arc AiAi+iA_iA_{i+i} has length 2πn=a\frac{2\pi}{n}= a . Given that there exists a set VV consisting of kk of these points ( k<nk < n ), which has the property that each of the arc lengths aa , 2a2a ,...,... , (n−1)a(n- 1)a can be obtained in exactly one way be taken as the length of an arc traversed in a positive sense, beginning and ending in a point of VV . Express nn in terms of kk and give the set VV for the case n=7n = 7 .

Problem 5

Given is an acute-angled triangle ABCABC with angles α\alpha , β\beta and γ\gamma . On side ABAB lies a point PP such that the line connecting the feet of the perpendiculars from PP on ACAC and BCBC is parallel to ABAB . Express the ratio APBP\frac{AP}{BP} in terms of α\alpha and β\beta .
