Problem 1

On the base ABAB of the isosceles triangle ABCABC , lies the point PP such that AP:PB=1:2AP : PB = 1 : 2 . Determine the minimum of ∠ACP\angle ACP .

Problem 2

It holds: N,a>0N,a > 0 . Prove that 12(Na+a)≥N\frac12 \left(\frac{N}{a}+a \right) \ge \sqrt{N} , and if N≥1N \ge 1 and a=[N]a = [\sqrt{N}] . Prove that if a≠N:12(Na+a)a \ne \sqrt{N}: \frac12 \left(\frac{N}{a}+a \right) is a better approximation for N\sqrt{N} than aa .

Problem 3

△ABC∼△A′B′C′\vartriangle ABC \sim \vartriangle A'B'C' . △ABC\vartriangle ABC has sides a,b,ca,b,c and △A′B′C′\vartriangle A'B'C' has sides a′,b′,c′a',b',c' . Two sides of △ABC\vartriangle ABC are equal to sides of △A′B′C′\vartriangle A'B'C' . Furthermore, a<a′a < a' , a<b<ca < b < c , a=8a = 8 . Prove that there is exactly one pair of such triangles with all sides integers.

Problem 4

Given is a triangle ABCABC . A line ℓ\ell passes through reflection wrt BCBC changes into the line ℓ′\ell' , ℓ′\ell' changes into ℓ′′\ell'' through reflection wrt ACAC and ℓ′′\ell'' through reflection wrt ABAB changes into ℓ′′′\ell''' . Construct the line ℓ\ell given that ℓ′′′\ell''' coincides with ℓ\ell .

Problem 5

A square of side nn ( nn natural) is divided into n2n^2 squares of side 11 . Each pair of "horizontal" boundary lines and each pair of "vertical" boundary lines enclose a rectangle (a square is also considered a rectangle). A rectangle has a length and a width; the width is less than or equal to the length. (a) Prove that there are 88 rectangles of width n−1n - 1 . (b) Determine the number of rectangles with width n−kn -k ( 0≤k≤n−1,k0\le k \le n -1,k integer). (c) Determine a formula for 13+23+...+n31^3 + 2^3 +...+ n^3 .
