Other problems

Problem 1

Evaluate the sum of all positive irreducible fractions less than 11 and having the denominator 19911991 .

Problem 2

A company of nn soldiers is such that (i) nn is a palindrome number (read equally in both directions); (ii) if the soldiers arrange in rows of 3,43, 4 or 55 soldiers, then the last row contains 2,32, 3 and 55 soldiers, respectively. Find the smallest nn satisfying these conditions and prove that there are infinitely many such numbers nn .

Problem 3

Four balls of radius 11 are placed in space so that each of them touches the other three. What is the radius of the smallest sphere containing all of them?

Problem 4

The diagonals ACAC and BDBD of a convex quarilateral ABCDABCD are orthogonal. Let M,N,R,SM,N,R,S be the midpoints of the sides AB,BC,CDAB,BC,CD and DADA respectively, and let W,X,Y,ZW,X,Y,Z be the projections of the points M,N,RM,N,R and SS on the lines CD,DA,ABCD,DA,AB and BCBC , respectively. Prove that the points M,N,R,S,W,X,YM,N,R,S,W,X,Y and ZZ lie on a circle.

Problem 5

The sum of squares of two consecutive integers can be a square, as in 32+42=523^2+4^2 =5^2 . Prove that the sum of squares of mm consecutive integers cannot be a square for m=3m = 3 or 66 and find an example of 1111 consecutive integers the sum of whose squares is a square.

Problem 6

Given an nn -gon ( n≥4n\ge 4 ), consider a set TT of triangles formed by vertices of the polygon having the following property: Every two triangles in T have either two common vertices, or none. Prove that TT contains at most nn triangles.
