Other problems

Problem 1

Let a,ba, b be positive integers and p,qp, q be prime numbers for which p∤q−1p \nmid q - 1 and q∣ap−bpq \mid a^p - b^p. Prove that q∣a−bq \mid a - b.

Problem 2

Let x1,...,xnx_1, ..., x_n (n≥2n \ge 2) be real numbers from the interval [1,2][1, 2]. Prove that

∣x1−x2∣+...+∣xn−x1∣≤23(x1+...+xn)|x_1 - x_2| + ... + |x_n - x_1| \le \frac{2}{3}(x_1 + ... + x_n),

with equality holding if and only if nn is even and the nn - tuple (x1,x2,...,xn−1,xn)(x_1, x_2, ..., x_{n - 1}, x_n) is equal to (1,2,...,1,2)(1, 2, ..., 1, 2) or (2,1,...,2,1)(2, 1, ..., 2, 1).

Problem 3

Let ABCABC be a triangle, and A1,B1,C1A_1, B_1, C_1 be points on the sides BC,CA,ABBC, CA, AB, respectively, such that AA1,BB1,CC1AA_1, BB_1, CC_1 are the internal angle bisectors of △ABC\triangle ABC. The circumcircle k′=(A1B1C1)k' = (A_1B_1C_1) touches the side BCBC at A1A_1. Let B2B_2 and C2C_2, respectively, be the second intersection points of k′k' with lines ACAC and ABAB. Prove that ∣AB∣=∣AC∣|AB| = |AC| or ∣AC1∣=∣AB2∣|AC_1| = |AB_2|.

Problem 4

Let SS be a nonempty finite set, and F\mathcal {F} be a collection of subsets of SS such that the following conditions are met: (i) F\mathcal {F} ∖\setminus {SS} ≠\neq ∅\emptyset; (ii) if F1,F2∈FF_1, F_2 \in \mathcal {F}, then F1∩F2∈FF_1 \cap F_2 \in \mathcal {F} and F1∪F2∈FF_1 \cup F_2 \in \mathcal {F}.

Prove that there exists a∈Sa \in S which belongs to at most half of the elements of F\mathcal {F}.
