Problem 1

Let JAJ_A and JBJ_B be the AA -excenter and BB -excenter of △ABC\triangle ABC . Consider a chord PQ‾\overline{PQ} of circle ABCABC which is parallel to ABAB and intersects segments AC‾\overline{AC} and BC‾\overline{BC} . If lines ABAB and CPCP intersect at RR , prove that ∠JAQJB+∠JARJB=180∘.\angle J_AQJ_B+\angle J_ARJ_B=180^\circ.

Problem 2

Denote by E(n)E(n) the number of 11 's in the binary representation of a positive integer nn . Call nn interesting if E(n)E(n) divides nn . Prove that (a) there cannot be five consecutive interesting numbers, and (b) there are infinitely many positive integers nn such that nn , n+1n+1 and n+2n+2 are each interesting.

Problem 3

Consider nn events, each of which has probability 12\frac12 . We also know that the probability of any two both happening is 14\frac14 . Prove the following. (a) The probability that none of these events happen is at most 1n+1\frac1{n+1} . (b) We can reach equality in (a) for infinitely many nn .
