Other problems

Problem 1

Let f(n)f(n) be the number of ways to express positive integer nn as a sum of positive odd integers. Compute f(n).f(n). (If the order of odd numbers are different, then it is considered as different expression.)

Problem 2

For positive integer n,n, let an=∑k=0[n2](n−2k)(−14)k.a_n=\sum_{k=0}^{[\frac{n}{2}]}\binom{n-2}{k}(-\frac{1}{4})^k. Find a1997.a_{1997}. (For real x,x, [x][x] is defined as largest integer that does not exceeds x.x. )

Problem 3

Let ABCDEFABCDEF be a convex hexagon such that AB=BC,CD=DE,EF=FA.AB=BC,CD=DE, EF=FA. Prove that BCBE+DEDA+FAFC≥32\frac{BC}{BE}+\frac{DE}{DA}+\frac{FA}{FC}\ge\frac{3}{2} and find when equality holds.

Problem 4

For any prime number p>2,p>2, and an integer aa and b,b, if 1+123+133+⋯+1(p−1)3=ab,1+\frac{1}{2^3}+\frac{1}{3^3}+\cdots+\frac{1}{(p-1)^3}=\frac{a}{b}, prove that aa is divisible by p.p.

Problem 5

Let a,b,ca,b,c be the side lengths of any triangle △ABC\triangle ABC opposite to A,BA,B and C,C, respectively. Let x,y,zx,y,z be the length of medians from A,BA,B and C,C, respectively. If TT is the area of △ABC\triangle ABC , prove that a2x+b2y+c2z≥3T\frac{a^2}{x}+\frac{b^2}{y}+\frac{c^2}{z}\ge\sqrt{\sqrt{3}T}

Problem 6

Find all polynomial P(x,y)P(x,y) for any reals x,yx,y such that (i) x100+y100≤P(x,y)≤101(x100+y100)x^{100}+y^{100}\le P(x,y)\le 101(x^{100}+y^{100}) (ii) (x−y)P(x,y)=(x−1)P(x,1)+(1−y)P(1,y).(x-y)P(x,y)=(x-1)P(x,1)+(1-y)P(1,y).

Problem 7

Let X,Y,ZX,Y,Z be the points outside the △ABC\triangle ABC such that ∠BAZ=∠CAY,∠CBX=∠ABZ,∠ACY=∠BCX.\angle BAZ=\angle CAY,\angle CBX=\angle ABZ,\angle ACY=\angle BCX. Prove that the lines AX,BY,CZAX, BY, CZ are concurrent.

Problem 8

For any positive integers x,y,zx,y,z and w,w, prove that x2,y2,z2x^2,y^2,z^2 and w2w^2 cannot be four consecutive terms of arithmetic sequence.
