Problem 1

For any positive integer nn, let ana_n denote the closest integer to n\sqrt{n}, and let bn=n+anb_n=n+a_n. Determine the increasing sequence (cn)(c_n) of positive integers which do not occur in the sequence (bn)(b_n).

Problem 2

Five points, no three collinear, are given on the plane. Let l1,l2,…,l10l_1,l_2,\ldots ,l_{10} be the lengths of the ten segments joining any two of the given points. Prove that if l12,…,l92l_1^2,\ldots ,l_9^2 are rational numbers, then l102l_{10}^2 is also a rational number.

Problem 3

Let P0P_0 be a point in the plane of triangle A0A1A2A_0A_1A_2. Define Pi (i=1,…,6)P_i\ (i=1,\ldots ,6) inductively as the point symmetric to Pi−1P_{i-1} with respect to AkA_k, where kk is the remainder when ii is divided by 33.

a) Prove that P6≡P1P_6\equiv P_1. b) Find the locus of points P0P_0 for which PiPi+1P_iP_{i+1} does not meet the interior of △A0A1A2\triangle A_0A_1A_2 for 0≤i≤50\le i\le 5.

Problem 4

In a triangle ABCABC, MM is the midpoint of BCBC. Given that ∠MAC=15∘\angle MAC=15^{\circ}, find the maximum possible value of ∠ABC\angle ABC.

Problem 5

In a deck of NN cards, the cards are denoted by 11 to NN. These cards are dealt to NN people twice. A person XX wins a prize if there is no person YY who got a card with a smaller number than XX both times. Determine the expected number of prize winners.
