Problem 2

  • Paper

Let ABCABC be a triangle with ∠C=90∘\angle C = 90^\circ and CA≠CBCA \neq CB . Let CHCH be an altitude and CLCL be an interior angle bisector. Show that for X≠CX \neq C on the line CLCL , we have ∠XAC≠∠XBC\angle XAC \neq \angle XBC . Also show that for Y≠CY \neq C on the line CHCH we have ∠YAC≠∠YBC\angle YAC \neq \angle YBC .

Let ABCABC be an equilateral triangle and DD , EE points on the sides [AB][AB] and [AC][AC] respectively. If DFDF , EFEF (with F∈AEF\in AE , G∈ADG\in AD ) are the interior angle bisectors of the angles of the triangle ADEADE , prove that the sum of the areas of the triangles DEFDEF and DEGDEG is at most equal with the area of the triangle ABCABC . When does the equality hold?
