Other problems

Problem 1

Let ABCABC be a right angled triangle with hypotenuse ACAC , and let HH be the foot of the altitude from BB to ACAC . Knowing that there is a right-angled triangle with side-lengths AB,BC,BHAB, BC, BH , determine all the possible values of AHCH\frac{AH}{CH}

Problem 2

Prove that among any 1818 consecutive positive integers not exceeding 20052005 there is at least one divisible by the sum of its digits.

Problem 3

In each cell of a 4×44 \times 4 table a digit 11 or 22 is written. Suppose that the sum of the digits in each of the four 3×33 \times 3 sub-tables is divisible by 44 , but the sum of the digits in the entire table is not divisible by 44 . Find the greatest and the smallest possible value of the sum of the 1616 digits.

Problem 4

Determine all n≥3n \geq 3 for which there are nn positive integers a1,⋯ ,ana_1, \cdots , a_n any two of which have a common divisor greater than 11 , but any three of which are coprime. Assuming that, moreover, the numbers aia_i are less than 50005000 , find the greatest possible nn .

Problem 5

Let hh be a positive integer. The sequence ana_n is defined by a0=1a_0 = 1 and

an+1={an2 if an is even an+h otherwise .a_{n+1} = \{\begin{array}{c} \frac{a_n}{2} \text{ if } a_n \text{ is even }a_n+h \text{ otherwise }.\end{array}

For example, h=27h = 27 yields a1=28,a2=14,a3=7,a4=34a_1=28, a_2 = 14, a_3 = 7, a_4 = 34 etc. For which hh is there an n>0n > 0 with an=1a_n = 1 ?

Problem 6

Two circles γ1,γ2\gamma_1, \gamma_2 in a plane, with centers AA and BB respectively, intersect at CC and DD . Suppose that the circumcircle of ABCABC intersects γ1\gamma_1 in EE and γ2\gamma_2 in FF , where the arc EFEF not containing CC lies outside γ1\gamma_1 and γ2\gamma_2 . Prove that this arc EFEF is bisected by the line CDCD .
