ISL 1991 Problem 2

ABCABC is an acute-angled triangle. MM is the midpoint of BCBC and PP is the point on AMAM such that MB=MPMB = MP . HH is the foot of the perpendicular from PP to BCBC . The lines through HH perpendicular to PBPB , PCPC meet AB,ACAB, AC respectively at Q,RQ, R . Show that BCBC is tangent to the circle through Q,H,RQ, H, R at HH .

    Original Formulation:

For an acute triangle ABC,MABC, M is the midpoint of the segment BC,PBC, P is a point on the segment AMAM such that PM=BM,HPM = BM, H is the foot of the perpendicular line from PP to BC,QBC, Q is the point of intersection of segment ABAB and the line passing through HH that is perpendicular to PB,PB, and finally, RR is the point of intersection of the segment ACAC and the line passing through HH that is perpendicular to PC.PC. Show that the circumcircle of QHRQHR is tangent to the side BCBC at point H.H.
