ISL 1983 Problem 11

    Let f:[0,1]→Rf : [0, 1] \to \mathbb R be continuous and satisfy: {bf(2x)=f(x), if 0≤x≤1/2,f(x)=b+(1−b)f(2x−1), if 1/2≤x≤1,\begin{cases}bf(2x) = f(x), &\text{ if } 0 \leq x \leq 1/2, f(x) = b + (1 - b)f(2x - 1), &\text{ if } 1/2 \leq x \leq 1,\end{cases} where b=1+c2+cb = \frac{1+c}{2+c} , c>0c > 0 . Show that 0<f(x)−x<c0 < f(x)-x < c for every x,0<x<1.x, 0 < x < 1.
