Other problems

Problem 2

Suppose that pp is a prime number. Prove that the equation x2−py2=−1x^2-py^2=-1 has a solution if and only if p≡1(mod4)p\equiv1\pmod 4 .

Problem 3

Suppose that ABCDABCD is a convex quadrilateral. Let F=AB∩CDF = AB\cap CD , E=AD∩BCE = AD\cap BC and T=AC∩BDT = AC\cap BD . Suppose that A,B,T,EA,B,T,E lie on a circle which intersects with EFEF at PP . Prove that if MM is midpoint of ABAB , then ∠APM=∠BPT\angle APM = \angle BPT .

Problem 4

Let M,M′M,M' be two conjugates point in triangle ABCABC (in the sense that ∠MAB=∠M′AC,…\angle MAB=\angle M'AC,\dots ). Let P,Q,R,P′,Q′,R′P,Q,R,P',Q',R' be foots of perpendiculars from MM and M′M' to BC,CA,ABBC,CA,AB . Let E=QR∩Q′R′E=QR\cap Q'R' , F=RP∩R′P′F=RP\cap R'P' and G=PQ∩P′Q′G=PQ\cap P'Q' . Prove that the lines AG,BF,CEAG, BF, CE are parallel.

Problem 5

This problem is generalization of this one. Suppose GG is a graph and S⊂V(G)S\subset V(G) . Suppose we have arbitrarily assign real numbers to each element of SS . Prove that we can assign numbers to each vertex in G\SG\backslash S that for each v∈G\Sv\in G\backslash S number assigned to vv is average of its neighbors.
