Problem 1

The in-circle of triangle ABCA B C touches the sides BC,CAB C, C A and ABA B in K,LK, L and MM respectively. The line through AA and parallel to LKL K meets MKM K in PP and the line through AA and parallel to MKM K meets LKL K in QQ. Show that the line PQP Q bisects the sides ABA B and ACA C of triangle ABCA B C.

Problem 2

Solve for integers x,y,zx, y, z :

x+y=1−z,x3+y3=1−z2x+y=1-z, x^{3}+y^{3}=1-z^{2}

Problem 3

If a,b,c,xa, b, c, x are real numbers such that abc≠0a b c \neq 0 and

xb+(1−x)ca=xc+(1−x)ab=xa+(1−x)bc\frac{x b+(1-x) c}{a}=\frac{x c+(1-x) a}{b}=\frac{x a+(1-x) b}{c}

then prove that either a+b+c=0a+b+c=0 or a=b=ca=b=c.

Problem 4

In a convex quadrilateral PQRS,PQ=RS,(3+1)QR=SPP Q R S, P Q=R S,(\sqrt{3}+1) Q R=S P and ∠RSP−∠SPQ=\angle R S P-\angle S P Q= 30∘30^{\circ}. Prove that

∠PQR−∠QRS=90∘\angle P Q R-\angle Q R S=90^{\circ}

Problem 5

Let a,b,ca, b, c be three real numbers such that 1≥a≥b≥c≥01 \geq a \geq b \geq c \geq 0. Prove that if λ\lambda is a root of the cubic equation x3+ax2+bx+c=0x^{3}+a x^{2}+b x+c=0 (real or complex), then ∣λ∣≤1|\lambda| \leq 1.

Problem 6

For any natural number n,(n≥3)n,(n \geq 3), let f(n)f(n) denote the number of non-congruent integer-sided triangles with perimeter nn (e.g., f(3)=1,f(4)=0,f(7)=2f(3)=1, f(4)=0, f(7)=2 ). Show that

(a) f(1999)>f(1996)f(1999)>f(1996)

(b) f(2000)=f(1997)f(2000)=f(1997).
