Problem 1

In an acute angled triangle ABCABC , ∠A=30∘\angle A = 30^{\circ} , HH is the orthocenter, and MM is the midpoint of BCBC . On the line HMHM , take a point TT such that HM=MTHM = MT . Show that AT=2BCAT = 2 BC .

Problem 2

Show that there are infintely many pairs (a,b)(a,b) of relatively prime integers (not necessarily positive) such that both the equations \begin{eqnarray*} x^2 +ax +b &=& 0 x^2 + 2ax + b &=& 0 \end{eqnarray*} have integer roots.

Problem 3

Show that the number of 3−3- element subsets {a,b,c}\{ a , b, c \} of {1,2,3,…,63}\{ 1 , 2, 3, \ldots, 63 \} with a+b+c<95a+b +c < 95 is less than the number of those with a+b+c≥95.a + b +c \geq 95.

Problem 4

Let ABCABC be a triangle and a circle Γ′\Gamma' be drawn lying outside the triangle, touching its incircle Γ\Gamma externally, and also the two sides ABAB and ACAC . Show that the ratio of the radii of the circles Γ′\Gamma' and Γ\Gamma is equal to tan⁡2(π−A4).\tan^ 2 { \left( \dfrac{ \pi - A }{4} \right) }.

Problem 5

Let n≥2n \geq 2 . Let a1,a2,a3,…ana_1 , a_2 , a_3 , \ldots a_n be nn real numbers all less than 11 and such that ∣ak−ak+1∣<1|a_k - a_{k+1} | < 1 for 1≤k≤n−11 \leq k \leq n-1 . Show that a1a2+a2a3+a3a4+…+an−1an+ana1<2n−1.\dfrac{a_1}{a_2} + \dfrac{a_2}{a_3} + \dfrac{a_3}{a_4} + \ldots + \dfrac{a_{n-1}}{a_n} + \dfrac{a_n}{a_1} < 2 n - 1 .

Problem 6

Find all primes pp for which the quotient 2p−1−1p\dfrac{2^{p-1} - 1 }{p} is a square.
