Other problems

Problem 1

In a triangle ABCABC , ∠A=2⋅∠B\angle A = 2 \cdot \angle B . Prove that a2=b(b+c)a^2 = b (b+c) .

Problem 2

If x,y,z∈Rx , y, z \in \mathbb{R} such that x+y+z=4x+y +z =4 and x2+y2+z2=6x^2 + y^2 +z^2 = 6 , then show that each of x,y,zx, y, z lies in the closed interval [23,2]\left[ \dfrac{2}{3} , 2 \right] . Can xx attain the extreme value 23\dfrac{2}{3} or 22 ?

Problem 3

Find the remainder when 199219^{92} is divided by 92.

Problem 4

Find the number of permutations (p1,p2,p3,p4,p5,p6)( p_1, p_2, p_3 , p_4 , p_5 , p_6) of 1,2,3,4,5,61, 2 ,3,4,5,6 such that for any k,1≤k≤5k, 1 \leq k \leq 5 , (p1,…,pk)(p_1, \ldots, p_k) does not form a permutation of 1,2,…,k1 , 2, \ldots, k .

Problem 5

Two circles C1C_1 and C2C_2 intersect at two distinct points P,QP, Q in a plane. Let a line passing through PP meet the circles C1C_1 and C2C_2 in AA and BB respectively. Let YY be the midpoint of ABAB and let QYQY meet the cirlces C1C_1 and C2C_2 in XX and ZZ respectively. Show that YY is also the midpoint of XZXZ .

Problem 6

Let f(x)f(x) be a polynomial in xx with integer coefficients and suppose that for five distinct integers a1,…,a5a_1, \ldots, a_5 one has f(a1)=f(a2)=…=f(a5)=2f(a_1) = f(a_2) = \ldots = f(a_5) = 2 . Show that there does not exist an integer bb such that f(b)=9f(b) = 9 .
