Problem 1

Prove that the Polynomial f(x)=x4+26x3+56x2+78x+1989f(x) = x^{4} + 26x^{3} + 56x^{2} + 78x + 1989 can't be expressed as a product f(x)=p(x)q(x)f(x) = p(x)q(x) , where p(x)p(x) and q(x)q(x) are both polynomial with integral coefficients and with degree at least 11 .

Problem 2

Let a,b,ca,b,c and dd be any four real numbers, not all equal to zero. Prove that the roots of the polynomial f(x)=x6+ax3+bx2+cx+df(x) = x^{6} + ax^{3} + bx^{2} + cx + d can't all be real.

Problem 3

Let AA denote a subset of the set {1,11,21,31,…,541,551}\{ 1,11,21,31, \dots ,541,551 \} having the property that no two elements of AA add up to 552552 . Prove that AA can't have more than 2828 elements.

Problem 5

For positive integers nn , define A(n)A(n) to be (2n)!(n!)2\frac {(2n)!}{(n!)^{2}} . Determine the sets of positive integers nn for which

(a) A(n)A(n) is an even number,

(b) A(n)A(n) is a multiple of 44 .

Problem 6

Triangle ABCABC has incentre II and the incircle touches BC,CABC, CA at D,ED, E respectively. Let BIBI meet DEDE at GG . Show that AGAG is perpendicular to BGBG .
