Problem 1

Let ABCABC be a triangle with ∠ABC=∠ACB=70∘\angle ABC=\angle ACB=70^{\circ} . Let point DD on side BCBC such that ADAD is the altitude, point EE on side ABAB such that ∠ACE=10∘\angle ACE=10^{\circ} , and point FF is the intersection of ADAD and CECE . Prove that CF=BCCF=BC .

Problem 2

For every positive integer nn , b(n)b(n) denote the number of positive divisors of nn and p(n)p(n) denote the sum of all positive divisors of nn . For example, b(14)=4b(14)=4 and p(14)=24p(14)=24 . Let kk be a positive integer greater than 11 .

(a) Prove that there are infinitely many positive integers nn which satisfy b(n)=k2−k+1b(n)=k^2-k+1 .

(b) Prove that there are finitely many positive integers nn which satisfy p(n)=k2−k+1p(n)=k^2-k+1 .

Problem 3

Let a,b,ca,b,c be positive real numbers which satisfy 5(a2+b2+c2)<6(ab+bc+ca)5(a^2+b^2+c^2)<6(ab+bc+ca) . Prove that these three inequalities hold: a+b>ca+b>c , b+c>ab+c>a , c+a>bc+a>b .

Problem 4

A 10-digit arrangement 0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,90,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 is called beautiful if (i) when read left to right, 0,1,2,3,40,1,2,3,4 form an increasing sequence, and 5,6,7,8,95,6,7,8,9 form a decreasing sequence, and (ii) 00 is not the leftmost digit. For example, 98071236549807123654 is a beautiful arrangement. Determine the number of beautiful arrangements.

Problem 5

Let rr , ss be two positive integers and PP a 'chessboard' with rr rows and ss columns. Let MM denote the maximum value of rooks placed on PP such that no two of them attack each other.

(a) Determine MM .

(b) How many ways to place MM rooks on PP such that no two of them attack each other?

[Note: In chess, a rook moves and attacks in a straight line, horizontally or vertically.]

Problem 6

Find all triples (x,y,z)(x,y,z) of real numbers which satisfy the simultaneous equations

x=y3+y−8x = y^3 + y - 8

y=z3+z−8y = z^3 + z - 8

z=x3+x−8.z = x^3 + x - 8.

Problem 7

Points A,B,C,DA,B,C,D are on circle SS , such that ABAB is the diameter of SS , but CDCD is not the diameter. Given also that CC and DD are on different sides of ABAB . The tangents of SS at CC and DD intersect at PP . Points QQ and RR are the intersections of line ACAC with line BDBD and line ADAD with line BCBC , respectively.

(a) Prove that PP , QQ , and RR are collinear.

(b) Prove that QRQR is perpendicular to line ABAB .

Problem 8

Let mm and nn be two positive integers. If there are infinitely many integers kk such that k2+2kn+m2k^2+2kn+m^2 is a perfect square, prove that m=nm=n .
