For positive odd integer nn, let f(n)f(n) denote the number of matrices AA satisfying the following conditions:

  • AA is n×nn \times n.
  • Each row and column contains each of 1,2,…,n1,2, \ldots, n exactly once in some order.
  • AT=AA^{T}=A. (That is, the element in row ii and column jj is equal to the one in row jj and column ii, for all 1≤i,j≤n1 \leq i, j \leq n.) Prove that f(n)≥n!(n−1)!φ(n)f(n) \geq \frac{n!(n-1)!}{\varphi(n)}.
