Problem 1

Let Q+\mathbb{Q}^{+}denote the set of positive rational numbers. Find, with proof, all functions f:Q+→Q+f: \mathbb{Q}^{+} \rightarrow \mathbb{Q}^{+} such that, for all positive rational numbers xx and yy, we have

f(x)=f(x+y)+f(x+x2f(y))f(x)=f(x+y)+f\left(x+x^{2} f(y)\right)

Problem 2

A prime number pp is mundane if there exist positive integers aa and bb less than p2\frac{p}{2} such that ab−1p\frac{a b-1}{p} is a positive integer. Find, with proof, all prime numbers that are not mundane.

Problem 3

Triangle ABCA B C has incircle ω\omega and AA-excircle ωA\omega_{A}. Circle γB\gamma_{B} passes through BB and is externally tangent to ω\omega and ωA\omega_{A}. Circle γC\gamma_{C} passes through CC and is externally tangent to ω\omega and ωA\omega_{A}. If γB\gamma_{B} intersects line BCB C again at DD, and γC\gamma_{C} intersects line BCB C again at EE, prove that BD=ECB D=E C.

Problem 4

Let n>1n>1 be a positive integer. Claire writes nn distinct positive real numbers x1,x2,…,xnx_{1}, x_{2}, \ldots, x_{n} in a row on a blackboard. In a move, William can erase a number yy and replace it with either 1y\frac{1}{y} or y+1y+1 at the same location. His goal is to make a sequence of moves such that after he is done, the numbers are strictly increasing from left to right. (a) Prove that there exists a positive constant AA, independent of nn, such that William can always reach his goal in at most Anlog⁡nA n \log n moves. (b) Prove that there exists a positive constant BB, independent of nn, such that Claire can choose the initial numbers such that William cannot attain his goal in less than Bnlog⁡nB n \log n moves.

Problem 5

Let a1,a2,…a_{1}, a_{2}, \ldots be an infinite sequence of positive integers such that, for all positive integers mm and nn, we have that am+na_{m+n} divides aman−1a_{m} a_{n}-1. Prove that there exists an integer CC such that, for all positive integers k>Ck>C, we have ak=1a_{k}=1.
