EGMO 2018 Problem 1

  • Day 1

Let ABCA B C be a triangle with CA=CBC A=C B and ∠ACB=120∘\angle A C B=120^{\circ}, and let MM be the midpoint of ABA B. Let PP be a variable point on the circumcircle of ABCA B C, and let QQ be the point on the segment CPC P such that QP=2QCQ P=2 Q C. It is given that the line through PP and perpendicular to ABA B intersects the line MQM Q at a unique point NN.

Prove that there exists a fixed circle such that NN lies on this circle for all possible positions of PP. (Velina Ivanova, Bulgaria)
