Problem 2

For a positive integer nn , let yny_n be the number of nn -digit positive integers containing only the digits 2,3,5,72,3,5, 7 and which do not have a 55 directly to the right of a 2.2. If r≥1r\geq 1 and m≥2m\geq 2 are integers, prove that ym−1y_{m-1} divides yrm−1.y_{rm-1}.

Problem 3

Given two positive integers nn and kk , we say that kk is nn -ergetic if: However the elements of M={1,2,…,k}M=\{1,2,\ldots, k\} are coloured in red and green, there exist nn not necessarily distinct integers of the same colour whose sum is again an element of MM of the same colour. For each positive integer nn , determine the least nn -ergetic integer, if it exists.

Problem 5

There are 99 visually indistinguishable coins, and one of them is fake and thus lighter. We are given 33 indistinguishable balance scales to find the fake coin; however, one of the scales is defective and shows a random result each time. Show that the fake coin can still be found with 44 weighings.

Problem 6

Let ABCDABCD be a circumscribed quadrilateral and MM the centre of the incircle. There are points PP and QQ on the lines MAMA and MCMC such that ∠CBA=2∠QBP.\angle CBA= 2\angle QBP. Prove that ∠ADC=2∠PDQ.\angle ADC = 2 \angle PDQ.
