Other problems

Problem 1

Solve the following system in the set of real numbers: x2−xy+y2=7x^2 -xy+y^2 = 7 , x2y+xy2=−2x^2y+xy^2 = -2 .

Problem 2

On sides BC,CA,ABBC,CA,AB of a triangle ABCABC points D,E,FD,E,F respectively are chosen so that AD,BE,CFAD,BE,CF have a common point, say GG . Suppose that one can inscribe circles in the quadrilaterals AFGE,BDGF,CEGDAFGE,BDGF,CEGD so that each two of them have a common point. Prove that triangle ABCABC is equilateral.

Problem 3

A sequence (xn)n=1∞(x_n)_{n= 1}^{\infty} satisfies x1=1x_1 = 1 and for each n>1,xn=±(n−1)xn−1±(n−2)xn−2±...±2x2±x1n > 1, x_n = \pm (n-1)x_{n-1} \pm (n-2)x_{n-2} \pm ... \pm 2x_2 \pm x_1 . Prove that the signs " ±\pm " can be chosen so that xn≠12x_n \ne 12 holds only for finitely many nn .

Problem 4

Let be given an obtuse angle AKSAKS in the plane. Construct a triangle ABCABC such that SS is the midpoint of BCBC and KK is the intersection point of BCBC with the bisector of ∠BAC\angle BAC .

Problem 5

Show that, for each integer z≥3z \ge 3 , there exist two two-digit numbers AA and BB in base zz , one equal to the other one read in reverse order, such that the equation x2−Ax+Bx^2 -Ax+B has one double root. Prove that this pair is unique for a given zz . For instance, in base 1010 these numbers are A=18,B=81A = 18, B = 81 .
