Other problems

Problem 1

Solve the system (4x)5+7y=14(2y)5−(3x)7=74(4x)_5+7y=14 (2y)_5 -(3x)_7=74 in the domain of integers, where (n)k(n)_k stands for the multiple of the number kk closest to the number nn .

Problem 2

Consider an arbitrary equilateral triangle KLMKLM , whose vertices K,LK, L and MM lie on the sides AB,BCAB, BC and CDCD , respectively, of a given square ABCDABCD . Find the locus of the midpoints of the sides KLKL of all such triangles KLMKLM .

Problem 3

Show that a given natural number AA is the square of a natural number if and only if for any natural number nn , at least one of the differences (A+1)2−A,(A+2)2−A,(A+3)2−A,⋯ ,(A+n)2−A(A + 1)^2 - A, (A + 2)^2 - A, (A + 3)^2 - A, \cdots , (A + n)^2 - A is divisible by nn .

Problem 4

Find all pairs of real numbers a,ba, b for which the equation in the domain of the real numbers ax2−24x+bx2−1=x\frac{ax^2-24x+b}{x^2-1}=x has two solutions and the sum of them equals 1212 .

Problem 5

A triangle KLMKLM is given in the plane together with a point AA lying on the half-line opposite to KLKL . Construct a rectangle ABCDABCD whose vertices B,CB, C and DD lie on the lines KM,KLKM, KL and LMLM , respectively. (We allow the rectangle to be a square.)

Problem 6

Let R+\mathbb{R}^{+} denote the set of positive real numbers. Find all functions f:R+→R+f : \mathbb{R}^{+} \to \mathbb{R}^{+} satisfying for all x,y∈R+x, y \in \mathbb{R}^{+} the equality f(xf(y))=f(xy)+xf(xf(y))=f(xy)+x
