Problem 1

For a permutation p(a1,a2,...,a17)p(a_1,a_2,...,a_{17}) of 1,2,...,171,2,...,17 , let kpk_p denote the largest kk for which a1+...+ak<ak+1+...+a17a_1 +...+a_k < a_{k+1} +...+a_{17} . Find the maximum and minimum values of kpk_p and find the sum ∑pkp\sum_{p} k_p over all permutations pp .

Problem 2

Let SS be the total area of a tetrahedron whose edges have lengths a,b,c,d,e,fa,b,c,d, e, f . Prove that S≤36(a2+b2+...+f2)S \le \frac{\sqrt3}{6} (a^2 +b^2 +...+ f^2)

Problem 3

Let S(n)S(n) denote the sum of digits of n∈Nn \in N . Find all nn such that S(n)=S(2n)=S(3n)=...=S(n2)S(n) = S(2n) = S(3n) =... = S(n^2)

Problem 4

Solve the equation cos⁡12x=5sin⁡3x+9 tan2x+ cot2x\cos 12x = 5\sin 3x+9\ tan ^2x+\ cot ^2x

Problem 5

The function f:(0,1)→Rf : (0,1) \to R is defined by f(x)=xf(x) = x if xx is irrational, f(x)=p+1qf(x) = \frac{p+1}{q} if x=pqx =\frac{p}{q} , where (p,q)=1(p,q) = 1 . Find the maximum value of ff on the interval (7/8,8/9)(7/8,8/9) .

Problem 6

Let ABCABC be an acute triangle. The altitude from BB meets the circle with diameter ACAC at points P,QP,Q , and the altitude from CC meets the circle with diameter ABAB at M,NM,N . Prove that the points M,N,P,QM,N,P,Q lie on a circle.
