Other problems

Problem 1

Two players AA and BB participate in the following game. Initially we have a pile of 2003 stones. AA plays first, and he picks a divisor of 2003 and removes that number of stones from the pile. Then BB picks a divisor of the number of remaining stones, and removes that number of stones from the pile, and so forth. The players who removes the last stone loses. Prove that one of the players has a winning strategy and describe it.

Problem 2

Let ABAB be a diameter of circle ω\omega . ℓ\ell is the tangent line to ω\omega at BB . Take two points CC , DD on ℓ\ell such that BB is between CC and DD . EE , FF are the intersections of ω\omega and ACAC , ADAD , respectively, and GG , HH are the intersections of ω\omega and CFCF , DEDE , respectively. Prove that AH=AGAH=AG .

Problem 3

If a>1a>1 and b>2b>2 are positive integers, show that ab+1≥b(a+1)a^{b}+1 \geq b(a+1) , and determine when equality holds.

Problem 4

S1S_{1} and S2S_{2} are two circles that intersect at distinct points PP and QQ . ℓ1\ell_{1} and ℓ2\ell_{2} are two parallel lines through PP and QQ . ℓ1\ell_{1} intersects S1S_{1} and S2S_{2} at points A1A_{1} and A2A_{2} , different from PP , respectively. ℓ2\ell_{2} intersects S1S_{1} and S2S_{2} at points B1B_{1} and B2B_{2} , different from QQ , respectively. Show that the perimeters of the triangles A1QA2A_{1}QA_{2} and B1PB2B_{1}PB_{2} are equal.

Problem 5

Each of the squares of an 8×88 \times 8 board can be colored white or black. Find the number of colorings of the board such that every 2×22 \times 2 square contains exactly 2 black squares and 2 white squares.
