Other problems

Problem 1

We define I(n)I(n) as the result when the digits of nn are reversed. For example, I(123)=321I(123)=321 , I(2008)=8002I(2008)=8002 . Find all integers nn , 1≤n≤100001\leq{n}\leq10000 for which I(n)=⌈n2⌉I(n)=\lceil{\frac{n}{2}}\rceil . Note: ⌈x⌉\lceil{x}\rceil denotes the smallest integer greater than or equal to xx . For example, ⌈2.1⌉=3\lceil{2.1}\rceil=3 , ⌈3.9⌉=4\lceil{3.9}\rceil=4 , ⌈7⌉=7\lceil{7}\rceil=7 .

Problem 2

Let PP be a point in the interior of triangle ABCABC . Let XX , YY , and ZZ be points on sides BCBC , ACAC , and ABAB respectively, such that <PXC=<PYA=<PZB<PXC=<PYA=<PZB . Let UU , VV , and WW be points on sides BCBC , ACAC , and ABAB , respectively, or on their extensions if necessary, with XX in between BB and UU , YY in between CC and VV , and ZZ in between AA and WW , such that PU=2PXPU=2PX , PV=2PYPV=2PY , and PW=2PZPW=2PZ . If the area of triangle XYZXYZ is 11 , find the area of triangle UVWUVW .

Problem 3

Two friends AA and BB must solve the following puzzle. Each of them receives a number from the set {1,2,…,250}\{1,2,…,250\} , but they don't see the number that the other received. The objective of each friend is to discover the other friend's number. The procedure is as follows: each friend, by turns, announces various not necessarily distinct positive integers: first AA says a number, then BB says one, AA says a number again, etc., in such a way that the sum of all the numbers said is 2020 . Demonstrate that there exists a strategy that AA and BB have previously agreed on such that they can reach the objective, no matter which number each one received at the beginning of the puzzle.

Problem 4

What is the largest number of cells that can be colored in a 7×77\times7 table in such a way that any 2×22\times2 subtable has at most 2 colored cells?

Problem 5

Let ABCABC be an isosceles triangle with base ABAB . A semicircle Γ\Gamma is constructed with its center on the segment AB and which is tangent to the two legs, ACAC and BCBC . Consider a line tangent to Γ\Gamma which cuts the segments ACAC and BCBC at DD and EE , respectively. The line perpendicular to ACAC at DD and the line perpendicular to BCBC at EE intersect each other at PP . Let QQ be the foot of the perpendicular from PP to ABAB . Show that PQCP=12ABAC\frac{PQ}{CP}=\frac{1}{2}\frac{AB}{AC} .

Problem 6

A palindrome is a number that is the same when its digits are reversed. Find all numbers that have at least one multiple that is a palindrome.
