CWMO 2001 Problem 8

We call A1,A2,…,AnA_1, A_2, \ldots, A_n an nn -division of AA if

    (i) A1∪A2∪⋯∪An=AA_1 \cup A_2 \cup \cdots \cup A_n = A , (ii) Ai∩Aj≠∅A_i \cap A_j \neq \emptyset .

    Find the smallest positive integer mm such that for any 1414 -division A1,A2,…,A14A_1, A_2, \ldots, A_{14} of A={1,2,…,m}A = \{1, 2, \ldots, m\} , there exists a set AiA_i ( 1≤i≤141 \leq i \leq 14 ) such that there are two elements a,ba, b of AiA_i such that b<a≤43bb < a \leq \frac {4}{3}b .
