Problem 1

  • Paper

Let ABCA B C be an acute triangle with AB=ACA B=A C, let DD be the midpoint of the side ACA C, and let γ\gamma be the circumcircle of the triangle ABDA B D. The tangent of γ\gamma at AA crosses the line BCB C at EE. Let OO be the circumcentre of the triangle ABEA B E. Prove that the midpoint of the segment AOA O lies on γ\gamma.

  • Answer

Denote Z>0={1,2,3,…}\mathbb{Z}_{>0}=\{1,2,3, \ldots\} the set of all positive integers. Determine all functions f:Z>0→Z>0f: \mathbb{Z}_{>0} \rightarrow \mathbb{Z}_{>0} such that, for each positive integer nn, i) ∑k=1nf(k)\sum_{k=1}^{n} f(k) is a perfect square, and ii) f(n)f(n) divides n3n^{3}.

Problem 3

  • Answer

Let kk be a positive integer. Determine the least integer n⩾k+1n \geqslant k+1 for which the game below can be played indefinitely:

Consider nn boxes, labelled b1,b2,…,bnb_{1}, b_{2}, \ldots, b_{n}. For each index ii, box bib_{i} contains initially exactly ii coins. At each step, the following three substeps are performed in order: (1) Choose k+1k+1 boxes; (2) Of these k+1k+1 boxes, choose kk and remove at least half of the coins from each, and add to the remaining box, if labelled bib_{i}, a number of ii coins. (3) If one of the boxes is left empty, the game ends; otherwise, go to the next step.

Let a1=2a_{1}=2 and, for every positive integer nn, let an+1a_{n+1} be the smallest integer strictly greater than ana_{n} that has more positive divisors than ana_{n}. Prove that 2an+1=3an2 a_{n+1}=3 a_{n} only for finitely many indices nn.
